a little about me..
I’m a Creative Director and Director of Photography focused on shaping cinematic stories that balance emotional truth with brand discipline. With more than 20 years of experience, my work lives at the intersection of documentary authenticity and commercial precision—designed to connect brands to real people, not just audiences.

I previously served as Director of Photography for a Fortune 200 company, where I led enterprise-scale video and photography initiatives across executive communications, national campaigns, and global storytelling. In that role, I was trusted with high-visibility work that required discretion, consistency, and refined creative judgment, helping define visual standards while guiding complex productions across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.

Outside of enterprise leadership, I’m the founder of digitaljose creative services, a boutique studio partnering with nonprofit, civic, and enterprise organizations to craft visually disciplined, human-centered stories. Whether leading teams or working hands-on, I’m known for shaping ideas as much as executing them—bringing clarity, intention, and craft to every frame.

Born in Ecuador and fluent in both English and Spanish, my global background informs a culturally nuanced perspective shaped by work across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. My creative approach is further influenced by formal studies in classical music and my active role as a cellist with the Des Moines Community Orchestra, where rhythm, pacing, and emotional structure naturally translate into my visual storytelling.

I also serve on the advisory board for the Des Moines Area Community College Video Production and Photography programs and regularly contribute to the industry as a judge for the American Advertising Federation Awards.
